School Holidays Coming

Dear Friends,
Sorry for keeping you long await for updates in my blog lately. "Late isbetter than never"-that's the phrase we always heard, isn't it? Wish everyone in best of health and

Well, I've been very busy and occupied with my office and administration work and hence, I was not able to update my blog. PMR examination has ended and SPM examination will be coming up soon. What's coming next then?

obviously, it's school HOLIDAYS!!! That's what the schoolgoing children been long awaiting for..i read my cousin's FB status before her examination. Mentioned that she hates study study and study and wish that school holidays will be never ending for her. Agreed, my dear little sisters and brothers?

Well, i would love my annual leaves will never end too but what does school holidays or annual leaves meant to you if no work and school??

Lets ponder for a while...

It's meaningless isn't it? If everyday is school holiday and annual leave. That makes sense to you and parents, am i correct? After reading my comments on her FB status, she agrees and appreciate going to school. Children nowadays are very smart and tends to ask or ponder questions without realising the rationales behind. So, would advise parents to throw questions to your kids and ask them to think. Make them think and explore the answers with some guidances from us. Then, they will be able to explore the rationales behind and tend to appreciate of what they are facing now. Scientists has shown reports that mos adults used very minimal of their brain and this is the time to train you child to optimise their brain.

That's the one of the many ways that parents should be at this modern age. No more demanding children to do this and that without explaining to them what's the rationales behind. Asking them to accept without us being challenged by them is very rare nowadays, isn't it?

Tips to score As in Geography-PMR

Good day, my friends! Today is the 4th day of Hari Raya. Time flies, isn't it? So how have you enjoyed the celebration or break last weekend. Well, as for me, nothing much that i've done for the last weekend as I was not feeling well. However, I came across this interesting blog which my cousin has found on the net. This blog was created by a very committed and dedicated Geography teacher whom has given mini notes, PMR Trial Exams at different states in Malaysia. Well done and a big round applause to her. You may check out her blog at http://geogarang.blogspot.com for more details and educational tips. Another interesting video which attracts me was the interviewed with Sugata Mitra. Which has further support that e-learning is coming up next as the top teaching tools worldwide. Check out the video at Sugata Mitra: The child-driven education | Video on TED.com

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri "Eid Mubarak"

Tomorrow is the first day of Raya for all Muslims and I would like to wish Selamat Hari Raya in advance.

Today, I came across one incident that my cousin was scolded by my auntie due to a minor mistake that she has done. Auntie keeps on scolding her with vulgar words and sd that she will not succeed in her study. At first, I would not like to intervene and be part of the scene but then really I can't stand when she keeps on scolding her to the extend that no "harga diri"..Is this the correct way to educate child when he or she at fault? I totally disagree but I'm sure you may come across many of these type of parents or adults out there.

Shouldn't we as a parent or adult to teach the proper way to our next generation and not instilling this negative thinking in them? Law of attraction tells us that we should talk, think and act positively but these majority people out there don't. Is it the way we were brought up? That's how I behave in the past until I was introduced to the "Law of Attractions" and "The secret" by one of my very close friend. I change my thinking and attract the positive thinking as much as I can. Though concious efforts to remind my mind required. That's always 2 way of reactions that you can give ie positive or negative. Which way will you choose in this situation?

Share me your views..

Do you think abolishing UPSR and PMR is a good move?

Happy Sunday everyone!!

Feels great on Sunday morning? Well, I do cause I just came back from taking morning walk at a park nearby. However, felt a bit annoying due to the ammonia gas that were released to the air by the factory nearby.

Today, would like to discuss & gather your views on move to abolish UPSR & PMR. This has been the heat topics for the past 2 weeks or perhaps more. Almost daily, I will come across these topic in the newspaper. So what's your view towards abolishing these examination?

I've been through these exams in the 1990s and in my opinion, UPSR & PMR should not be abolished as there will be no performance measurement for the students. How well or how bad are our students' understanding & applications in exam?

The UPSR & PMR have become tried and tested national year-end assessments for many years. This sets an important benchmark for all schools to gauge themselves by and children lost their directions excelling in school.

UPSR & PMR should be maintained but questions should be designed according to what you desire your end-product, the student, to be. There should be a more conscious effort to improve the quality required in project work that supplements examinations to instil creativity, innovation and quality thinking in students.

Naturally, more time would be made available for other activity-based pursuits and hobbies that make children more rounded in character.

What says you?

Taking a break this school holidays..

Would like to wish all the father's a very Happy Father's Day!!

Sorry for the belated wishes as I was away at Cameron Highlands last weekend. The trip was so-so cause not able to get to the tea & strawberry farm to experience on my own. A bit disappointed isn't it? Well, my friend just told me that there are many farms there which we can go down and hands on but perhaps on our own accords since I followed the tour. However, I enjoyed so much of good and fresh food and bought interesting "ole-ole" home..that was the most satisfactions that I've.

One of them are the crystal corn-fresh from the farm and it tastes so sweet even on its own...bravo!! Anyone of you tried this before? If you've not, make sure you got to try this.

The hotel which I was staying also disappointing due to poor amenities and services. Well, i guess perhaps due to school holidays and hotel were fully booked. Yet, if you asked me, i will still go again due to the cooling weather and the greenery environment surrounds the highlands. Anyhow, i really wish this place to be preserved as it is but then, road condition and hotel amenities and services got to be improved further.

The 2nd item which I've bought was this strawberry soap. You can smell strawberry from the outside packaging. Great as a souvenir as it only cost RM1 and if you bought 12 pieces then you will get one free. I would strongly recommend this as souvenir rather than buying key chains which most of us do. The con about this product is it's not locally made.. :-(

That's my sharing for now. Do drop your comments or views and etc...

What have you been doing this school holidays?

Hello friends, brothers & sisters,

How's everyone been doing with this school holiday? Enjoying yourself or struggling to complete the unfinished projects or assignments? Well, some of my colleagues been taking long leaves from work to spend quality time with their kids during this school holidays and for those single like us, got to sacrifice taking our leaves to relief our parents collegues. However, I was lucky cos able to take leave on the last day of the school holidays.

Feeling guilty as well cos not able to spend some time with my cousin during this school holidays but she has been rushing to complete her projects before school starts on Monday. She was complaining to me that she has difficulties to get people to complete her survey forms and also interviews. Majority of the people will just shake their head and walked off.

Pity her and her friends begging for "cooperation" from these people. Well, I guess most of us will do the same too if someone approach us nowadays, isn't it? Being a good samaritan can even danger your life so can't blame us as well, being in this society. One of my gf lost her money while trying to be a good samaritan to a China couple at Bkt Bintang.

This couple asking favour to use her mobile phone to call their friend but after that, my friend was so called "hipnotise" and went to the ATM machine to withdraw from her account. Scary isn't it?

And hence, most of us also practise "Better say No than Sorry later"!!

Bought HP Deskjet D2660

Hello there,

Last Saturday, I was having problem with my Epson printer & it seems not able to print. My cousin sister needs it urgently to print for her Sejarah & Geografi projects. Hence, I have bought a new printer at a nearby shop. It was HP Deskjet D2660 having a promotion at RM155 instead of RM188. Thinking it was cheap & within my budget, I bought it.

After I've updated in my Facebook, my gf told me that she came across Atoz at Digital Mall the other day & the price is cheap plus the good point is they deliver to your doorstep within 2 hours. I was surprised to hear that & was looking for their contact details.

Finally, my friend got the hotline number which is 1800880007 & I called up. The same printer was selling at RM99 & there will be no charges incurred for purchase above RM100. Wow, how this businessman make money & also provide this kind of service? It is so competitive now but I'm sure many users out there would love this.

In case you were printing some very urgent documents and you run out of ink. Just need to call up this hotline just like McDonald's & they will deliver to you within 2 hours time. Perfect, isn't it? No need to step out your house at all. Share this!

Learning is a continuous process: Designer?

http://33y33y.blogspot.com/2010/05/stubborn.

Designer?

Happy Wesak Day for those who are celebrating!!

Just read my friend's blog and she was disappointed with some people out there who claims that they are designer but in fact, it's far far away qualify from that title. Well, the reason is simple and some of us may already know the answer.

When you call yourself with a much more professional title or position, friends, customers and etc started to have confidence in you. Cos they believe that you must have that qualification in order to hold that title! Have u ever feel or have that impression before??

Same goes for many tutors out there...

I'm so sorry if I have offended anyone in that profession but they are many people out there who wants to "cari makan" and claim that they are professional tutor but in fact, they have very or limited knowledge about the education syllabus. Some of them didn't even prepare themselves before the class and only starts to "learn" while conducting the classes...this is certainly not the PRO tutor. If you are one of them, pls ensure tht you buckle up and increase your knowledge as much as possible.

Bear in mind your students have placed their faiths and trusts on you so pls don't fail that beliefs.

Visit to the library

Happy Saturday,
While waiting for my cousin sister at the TTDI library at Pusat Komuniti, I filled up my time by blogging. It has been long long time (years) since I last visit to the library. My last visit was during my university's time. Peace & quiet environment for thinking and a break too!!

Hmm, been asking myself why not visiting the library lately? I guess the answer is easy! You got the answer? Internet!! Well, i guess the easy & cheap acess to the internet has reduce the need and time to travel and visit to the library. Isn't it?

Simple as that, with just a click at google, wikipedia, yahoo and other search engines, you can get all the information that you looking for? I used to frequent the bookstores very often last time but not now anymore. However, i do drop by & get some "hardcopy" items especially motivational books as one of my collections and i can have my own sweet times to read. The current book that i've been reading now is "See you at the top" by Zig Ziglar.

He's a great author and have helped so many normal person like you and me to succeed in their life. Do get a copy and apply to your daily life and act like one SUCCESSFUL person whom we admire most!!

If you can dream it, then you can achieve it. You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want-Zig Ziglar

Happy Mother's Day!!

Happy Mother's Day to all beloved, lovely & wonderful Mummies out there. Would like to dedicate my wishes to my mum & granny though they will not read this. Want to wish them happy, healthy & joyful years ahead!!

Mother's day is tomorrow so what's in your mind for your beloved mummy? Buying a gift, cook for mum, bringing her to eat outside, giving flowers or...I'm still looking for something special for her this Mother's Day but really can't find a good one. Perhaps you can enlighten me then. Share your thoughts with me, pls.

Can I make this my own business?

Last week, I did a presentation to a school teacher & she rejected my offer to make Score A her own business. I asked her what's the reason for not being into the education business?

She told me "By doing this busineess, it will break her bowl rice and later, I will be out of job then.."

There are minority of educationist for instance, teachers & tutors who rejected the idea of getting into Score A business. Why? Have a 2nd thought about it.

- Referring to my Input vs Output Learning posting earlier, Score A is based on output learning and teachers or tutors are the input learning. So where are the contradictions that she claimed? In fact, Score A program and Teachers complement each other. It's the perfect match!

- Students can use the Score A program for the E-Topic, E-Trial Exam and E-Past Year Exam with their teacher's guidances and explanations so that they can understand better and absorb faster. On the other hand, teachers can make some extra income by selling the program to the students as substitution to reference books and work books. It's a win-win situation but this teacher did not see the opportunity that arise from this e-learning program.

Not trying to be rude, WEBUCATION (perhaps a new word to you) is the sunrise business and if we do not prepare our kids and ourselves for the ICT world, we will be left far behind. Be more alert & observant towards the fast moving society that we are in today..what do you find?

Looking at our 2010 government budget, they are also promoting the subscription of broadband by giving RM500 tax relief. Doesn't all this trend hinting us?

Your responses when your kids did not score in exams?

- I came across these interesting articles on the net today & it reminds me the time when my cousin sister received her UPSR slips 2 years ago. She dared not to call & inform me her results. The reason was she's worried that I will scold her for not scoring in her UPSR. However, she did call & inform me later that afternoon.

- Upon hearing her result, I was calm & did not scold her. Instead, had advised her to try to do better in the next coming exam which is PMR. She was so relief & from that day onwards, I noticed her changes instantly.

- As many working parents out there, what would be your first reaction or response when we heard not so many As in our kid's results? Do we scold our kids for not doing well & get disappointed that we have been working so hard to put him in school yet, this is what we get? Well, would like to hear from you. Time to ponder.

Love this quotes from the articles:-

" While we all have dreams of our children being the best in everything they do, we have to be realistic of their abilities and talents. Think about what your child is capable of and set goals that are appropriate for his age, knowledge and skills. "

What is education?

"Mummy, mummy, why we need to study?" Have u ever think of the answer to this question? Well, most of the time, parents will answer "so that you will excel in your exam & get a good job.." Is that true?

I personally don't think so. Excelling in your exam doesn't mean that you will excel in your job but the application of what we have learned in school, which will help us to climb the corporate ladder are more vital in any education system. Education is just a tranportation to the working world and it very much depends on what mode of transportation you are in. If you are driving a F1 engine car, you will reach your destination ahead from the rest. So what is the "engine" in education? Think about it.

"ENGINE" is the mode of learning in school. Textbooks, Workbooks, Stationeries and Teachers are part of the "engine" in our learning journey but what are missing and forgotten here? We may have all the tools to learn but what makes some students better than the rest.

We were not taught how to learn in school. This Score A program was specially designed for students on how to learn the right way. HoW?

(a) Instant Marking - student's errors are being corrected immediately
(b) Electronic Timer - time management is vital in order to score As in any exam
(c) E-report card - it's available up to 3 years historical records
(d) One stop access - E-notes, E-dictionary, E-topic, E-assessment, E-Trial Exam, E- past year Exam (up to 15 years) and E-report card
(e) Interactive with the pre launch of I Teacher (in my earlier blog)

If you want to explore more, you may log into www.scorea.com & try the online demo using ID:82828. For full presentation and details, you may contact me via e-mail or mobile number 016-333 7636.

Free education at Sai Baba Kepong Bhajan Unit

Last week, I was invited to do presentation for a Sai Baba bhajan's committee members at Kepong area. One of the member already came across Score A program before but never got to feel and look at the program and it was my honour to share with them. The members were amazed and impressed with the comprehensive featured in the e-learning program.

Without a second thought, they've taken 5 portals, which is E Partner (save them RM1192 in total) from me and they intend to sponsor this program for their students at the centre. Further to that, i've also proposed to them that the additional portals that they sell in future, will be channel to the centre as one of their income. With this, more needy students or devotees can benefit from the income stream generated. Wish i could contribute to more needy out there in whatever manner i can.

The committee buys my idea and they are currently in the midst of preparing the BM & English tuition classes hand in hand with the Score A program for the benefits of the students. Not only devotees but also open to non-devotees so anyone interested for the free education, do drop me a mail. Thanks.

2) E-Notes in Score A

Gong Xi Fatt Chai! It has been more than a month since I last drop my blog here. How's everyone doing? First of all would like to wish Gong Xi Fatt Chai to those celebrating Chinese New Year & Happy Holidays to all.

Well, the next unique features that I want to share with all of you is the E-Notes in the Score A program. Parents, what will you usually do at the beginning of the school starts?? Usually we will get all the reference books for our kids, don't you?
If our kids are in lower secondary school, we will get AT LEAST 7 reference books for her or him. Lets just take RM30 per book, that will cost us RM 30*7=RM 210.

Most of us, as parents will not hesitate to dig from our wallet & pay for the books cause we know it's for the benefits of our kids' future. But $$ is not the only thing in making sure our kids score in the exam, do you agree? We may have bought the 14 reference books for our kids but how frequent do they open up the books? You may keep that answer to yourself.

With E-Notes in Score A, kids can refer to the comprehensive & simplified notes with just a click away. Isn't it so easily & convenient accessible without leaving their chair? Definitely. Would your kids have any other excuses not to refer to the E-Notes anymore? Well, my cousin has been refering to the E-notes more frequent than her school notes and she has ben printing out the e-notes as her reference. Her feedbacks were brain storming, simple, comprehensive, colourful & interactive.

Why don't you find out yourself then?

(1) Instant Marking Feature in Score A

The first feature that I would like to discuss this evening is "Instant Marking" which I, myself love the most. I've a cousin sister who is currently in Form 3 and all these years, I've been facing the same issues year after year which is marking her workbooks (which I hate the most too).

Why I hate them? Perhaps you can help me to answer that. Well, I hate the manual marking because I got no patience to sit in one place and mark for her and it's too time consuming. Hmm, frankly speaking, I was lazy to look at her workbooks after long hours at work. I always give excuse to myself that i'm busy and hence, i can avoid marking hers. However, at the end of the day, i still need to do that..and that's why I said I hate this the most cause it's unproductive :-)

By the time, I feel like marking for her, it's already few weeks down the road. And when i asked her how she gets the answer, she tends to forget. That's not the problem. The problem is when she keeps on repeating the same error in her monthly test & examination as well. That means the marking doesn't help her, isn't it? So where does it goes wrong?

Wouldn't it be good if we have an instant marking for students & parents then? Well, Score A resolve that once & for all. After student has click on the answer, the program will mark instantly. The student would be able to know the correct answer and will not repeat the mistakes in future. And for the parents, no more marking on workbooks required. So much time can be save! And the system was designed to be interactive with the students by motivating them with sound "GOOD!", "WELL DONE!" and "EXCELLENT!" every time they get the correct answer.

Ever heard of instilling positive attitudes and mindset. By giving motivational words to students each time they got the correct answer will instil that confidence level in them.

It's what you learn after you know it all that counts

It's what you learn after you know it all that counts. ~Attributed to Harry S. Truman

Just got this quotation from the net which I found it very relevant to my blog which I'm going to share today. I totally agreed that it's not what your learn that is important but how much you understand and apply that counts. In my earlier blog, I've mentioned that why we or our kids are unable to certain that they will pass the exam or not though they have studied hard for the test.

The reason is simply because it depends on the % of inputs that we can memorise from our classes at school and tuition, isn't it? In short, exam is based on output learning, which what Score A program was designed for.

Score A is an e-learning program, designed based on OUTPUT learning and 14 UNIQUE FEATURES of Score A has assist and train the students to learn the correct way to learn. This program has been established since 1999 and the top e-learning company in M'sia, which was endorsed by our Ministry of Education on the 3rd March 2006.

Our program has proven tracks of records in assisting thousand of students in M'sia to achieve straight As in UPSR and PMR. And my real live testimony will be my cousin sister which has improved her Form 2 results in 3 months from 2A2B1C2D to 4A2B1C. With the lauching of SPM last Sept 2009, Score A will strive to assist more students to Score As in the coming 2010 SPM. Our program is now comprehensive available for Standard 1 to Form 5 and 100% according to Malaysian syllabus. So less worries to parents and students out there.

More discussion on the Score A program in my next coming blog so stay tune, folks!!

Input Vs Output Learning

Interesting article which I found from the web http://www.volunteerministers.org/solutions/technology-of-study-info.html?source=ga&gclid=COXDz4WClJ8CFYowpAodFkqEIA

Quotes: "Too many students graduate from school and college unable to put to use what they’ve learned in school. It’s not that they’re stupid or that their teachers didn’t know how to teach.

More than likely it traces back to the one thing missing from most educations—learning how to learn in the first place"

Input Vs Output Learning

Good day to all,
In my earlier blog, I've mentioned about INPUT and OUTPUT learning by our kids today. I've searched from the net and the definition of INPUT means:-

1 : something that is put in: as a : an amount put in b : power or energy put into a machine or system for storage, conversion in kind, or conversion of characteristics usually with the intent of sizable recovery in the form of output c : a component of production (as land, labor, or raw materials) d : information fed into a data processing system or computer e : advice, opinion, comment f : a stimulus that acts on and is integrated into a bodily system
2 : the means by which or the point at which an input (as of energy, material, or data) is made
3 : the act or process of putting in

In short, input learning means whatever knowledge, lessons that our kids being "put in" via classroom or field learning. We often heard about "spoon-feeding" syllabus at school. Yes, that's the environment that ourselves and perhaps our kids are in.

Wht about definition of output then?
1 : something produced: as a : mineral, agricultural, or industrial production b : mental or artistic production c : the amount produced by a person in a given time d : power or energy produced or delivered by a machine or system (as for storage or for conversion in kind or in characteristics) e : the information produced by a computer
2 : the act, process, or an instance of producing
3 : the terminal for the output on an electrical device

In summary, output learning means to apply what we've learned in classroom and etc in reality and in the bigger competitive work environment. Do you agree with me?

Most of the time, we used to input our brain as much as possible, but not everything from school then when come the exam time, we start to output our previous inputs into papers. Not knowing whether we will pass or fail the exam? Some of you might have left schools long time ago and some are still schooling. Have you ever wonder why are these happening to us? Pls share your views in the comments column.

Common Problems faced by working parents with schoolgoing kids

I've been checking my blog quite often but didn't see much comments here. Kinda disappointed yet I will still continue my posting here to share. I'm not too sure whether you guys are reading or not cos didn't see any comments in my blog website. Is it too boring or not informative? Well, I will try to improve on that.

Met up with one of my friend who is working at the same time with 4 schoolgoing kids. We were chatting with one another and she has been complaining that she doesn't have the time to mark her children's workbook and do enough revision with them. Imagine ourselves working 8 hours ideally in the office, 1 hour for lunch, 2 hours stuck in the jam or LRT, 8 hours for sleep. How many hours we left for ourselves and our kids? 24-8-1-2-8= 5 hours. Do you think this is sufficient?

Well, definitely not. Isn't it? I, myself with a cousin sister who is now 15 year old, Form 3 do understand the problems that she is facing. By the time, I reached home, I'm already too tired to look at her homework or progress at school. During weekend, I will do some house chores at home and catch up with family & friend gatherings. Left with limited time for her. By the time, I have the time to sit down side by side with her and do the marking. She can't remember what she had done or found the answers. I'm sure these are very common for all of us, especially working mums.

So, i've been looking for alternative ways in assisting her in her homework and I'm sure most of us do. Make a guess?

Yeah, sending to tuition centre or one to one tutor. Does that help? Well, i don't deny that tutor has been playing an important role in our society today but is our kid learning the right way?

It's just another INPUT learning for them. What are the difference between input & output learning? Will discuss later in my next blog.

Walk the Talk vs Talk the Walk

Just met up with one of my unimate yesterday afternoon. My first impression seeing her in front of my house was she was down & moody again. At first, I was quite furious when she's late for hours without informing me but then, when I saw her facial expression, I just forgive her cos I knew she has other issues even bigger for me to look at instead of focussing on her lateness.

We talked for hours and she has been sharing her stories with me. Both her in-law & family issues that she has been facing and dealing with. Well, listening to her stories do make me phobia of getting married but then, it's part & parcel of life which we need to cope & deal with. My friend of mine been commenting that it's easy to talk then to act just like the phrase "Walk the Talk" of "Talk the Walk".

Yes, she's absolutely correct and the same goes for everyone out there. Everyone got his or her own unresolved issues but which are the one that we are in control then we've to do something about it rather than pondering and getting upset at some issues that are beyond our control. We are in control either to live happily or otherwise.

My advice to her was to prioritise importance weightage of these people that she has to deal with. Who come first in her life and also who will accompany her till the end of her life journey?

I told her is her 4 months old baby in her womb (including herself) and her beloved hubby. Be cheerful & happy always. Get rid of all those negativities in her mind and channel her energy towards her baby and new family that she's going to have in March 2010. Read more books & online search on educating & taking care of baby & etc. She was enlighten with my ideas and the most that I concern is she will be a happier mummy to be. Keep the spirit high up, my dear friend!! The site that I came across last week www.annegeddes.com. Take a visit at those cutie babies. I just love it & have uploaded one in my earlier blog post.

2nd day of New Year 2010

On the last day of 2009, I went countdown nearby my house. Last year, it was not so pack with people cause not many knew there's a countdown celebration at that place but this year, it was packed with people and countdown activities-stage performance, clown, stalls and fun park. Wow, it was a great celebration!!

About reaching the place, seen that the cars are moving real slow and worried that unable to get a car park inside. Yeah, luck was on side and finally found one little space for the car. Though walked quite a distance, it was fun to see people enjoying & celebrating the new year with such a positive manner.

Year 2009 has not been a very good year. So many disasters & incidents been happening-floods, buildings collapsed, H1N1 and so many more. Yet, people are still wishing for the best of 2010 to come. Isn't this something to celebrate? No matter how tough life will be, life still goes on so do we, people.

Wishing everyone out there including my family-a good year 2010 ahead. Bravo!!
